Martian Dice by Calliope Games is an easy, quick-moving dice game in a small box that gives you a chance to be a Martian fighting tanks that the earthlings have amassed to keep you from abducting sample species of earthlings to study, represented by humans, chickens, and cows.
Players take turns starting with rolling all 13 dice. After their initial roll and for every roll afterwards, they must set aside all tank dice. The remaining dice are death rays, which are their weapons against the tanks, or earthlings (humans, chickens, or cows). To earn points, a player must have more death rays than tanks at the end of a turn. Another rule is that after tanks are set aside, you must choose only one other type of dice to set aside for each roll. The third rule is that you can only choose humans, cows, or chickens once during a turn, but you can always choose death rays.
After each roll, decide whether to continue rolling the remaining dice. If so, scoop them up and follow the same rules as the last roll. The goal is to stop rolling when you have more death rays than tanks AND you have chickens, cows, or humans set aside. You get one point for each earthling species and 3 extra points if you have at least one of each earthling type. You get no points if there are more tanks than death rays to subdue them. Play continues with each player starting with 13 dice and setting aside required dice for each roll. When any player has a total of 25 points at the end of any round, the game ends and the player with the most points wins the game! For 2+ players in 10-30 minutes.
