Category Description for Abeka History & Geography Grade 1

Abeka's first grade history and geography is made up of two courses: My America and My World and Community Helpers. Both textbooks are full color with comprehension questions and vocabulary words. Daily lesson plans for each of these resources is found in the Abeka History, Science and Health Curriculum Grade 1 Lesson Plans, #009696. In My America and My World, students will learn how our country was founded and what our basic freedoms are under the U.S. Constitution. This course presents an overview of American history and the 50 states along with good citizenship in a patriotic style. Topics include excerpts on early Americans, holidays and songs, colonial life, the Revolutionary War and the Civil War, American inventions, famous scientists, athletes, and more. In Community Helpers, children learn about their communities and a variety of jobs. Police officers, teachers, doctors, pastors, and many other jobs are explored as students learn how adults serve their community. Good habits such as manners, staying healthy, and taking care of your teeth are also included.
