I am a big fan of Azul Summer
Pavilion by Next Move Games; it is probably my favorite of the Azul series.
When Azul Summer Pavilion Glazed Pavilion Expansion was published
in 2021, I was excited to see what new variety of gameplays it offered to
enhance the overall experience. To my delight, this expansion really adds enjoyment
with the following new components:
New two-sided Player
Boards: Two-sided boards with plastic overlays to help hold tiles in place are included.
There is also a new scoring bonus with added fountain statues. You receive one colored
tile from the mainboard for each fountain you surround by placing tiles on each
of its adjacent sides. Another change from the base game is the star in the
center of the player board. In the base game, there are no restrictions on
where each colored tile can be placed if all 6 different colors are represented.
On these new boards, the required colors are assigned on each of the spaces. If
using the orange side of the board, there are also numbers specified for each
space. If using the purple side, three tiles must be used for every space.
New two-sided
Scoring Board: The purple side (which coincides with the use of the purple-sided
player boards) changes a few things. First, the order of the wild color is different
from the base game and end-game scoring values for each completed star are
different too. In general, players have more available points on their boards
with completed stars and numbers, as well as for sets of surrounded structures
on their boards at game end. Gameplay and rules are otherwise the same as the base
game.
If you enjoy Azul Summer Pavilion, be sure to add this
expansion for more variety. For 2-4 players with a 30–45-minute game time. ~

Publisher's Description of Azul Summer Pavilion Glazed Pavilion Expansion
Azul: Glazed Pavilion offers players 2 newly designed player boards and
matching scoring boards to compete over and a set of 4 overlays to keep
Azul: Glazed Pavilion tiles neatly organized. Offering the best of
both worlds — beauty and new game elements — Glazed Pavilion is a
must-have expansion for Azul fans!
It all started in 2017 with the original Azul game, and it continues with new expansions and editions added through the years, which enhance and enrich this creative, abstract tile-laying series.
What is wonderful about the original continues through each of the new stand-alone editions. The quality and design of the components are beautiful with well-written, concise, and easy-to-understand manuals that use effective illustrations to clarify rules.
The mini versions preserve the experiences of the originals but with packaging and design perfect for travel. The add-on expansions bring new strategies and components to give their core games variety and new strategies to extend and expand gameplay.
We hope that you have the chance to enjoy Azul in all its editions and additions!
