Description

Players descend into the depths of a dungeon looking for treasure to collect and add resources in order to add points to their end of game trove. Starting with a modest hand of cards, players will use skill points to purchase more cards from the Dungeon Deck. Use boots, which are available on cards to move around the game board, and swords which players need to fight monsters that lurk in the dungeon. Suddenly, the dragon stirs and players are required to add “clank” – which are colored cubes that match each player’s game pawn to a dragon bag along with dragon-colored cubes. When the dragon gets riled up, players must draw cubes from the bag adding damage on each player’s health track if their color is drawn. The goal is to move through the dungeon, collect an artifact, and also as many other treasures and points from cards and items in the dungeon as possible before your health track is filled with clank or another player ascends from the dungeon with their treasures and ends the game. The player with the most points wins the game. Use good planning and strategy skills so that you are not stuck in the dungeon too long or you will lose the game! For 2-4 players, with a 60-minute playtime.

Category Description for Clank

Clank! What a noisy word for a game! Perhaps the dragon that lurks in the dungeon in this series of games makes some big sounds. Also, there are cubes in this series called “clank” that are involved with each player’s potential for a gradual or sudden demise in the context of possibly losing the game.

In 2016, Dire Wolf published Clank: A Deck-Building Adventure, which was its first game in this series. Since then, there have been several additions, including stand-alone games and expansions.

Clank: A Deck-Building Adventure leads players into a dungeon where they collect treasures and must bring back an artifact from its depths and travel back to the entrance of the dungeon before the dragon captures them. Along the way, there are chances to collect additional treasures and earn valuable points. All the games in this series center around this basic storyline. Building an effective, efficient deck of cards is key to being successful, as they direct all movement and weaponry needed for the journey and bring advantages and rewards.

Expansions to this game were added in 2017 with Clank!: Sunken Treasures, which added underwater caverns, and in 2018 with Clank!: The Mummy’s Curse, which brought an Egyptian pyramid to the dungeon along with a mummy to make things even more interesting. Both expansions came with new boards and added cards and components. In 2018, Clank! Expeditions: Gold and Silk came out with two new adventures set in the Clank dungeon world. One includes a mining company loaded with monsters and the other has a spider queen and many webs as part of the challenges encountered belowground. A second Expedition was issued in 2019 called Clank! Expeditions: Temple of the Ape Lords. The first adventure is a quest through the jungle looking for the temple and the second continues inside of the temple. In 2020, Clank!: Adventuring Party was published, which enabled up to six players to experience Clank! along with six new characters complete with identities and unique advantages and powers. All these additions require the base game Clank: A Deck-Building Adventure to play and integrate new cards, components, and experiences while keeping the basic structure and mechanics of gameplay.

In 2022, Clank Catacombs joined the Clank! party with an exciting new way to enjoy this deck-building dungeon adventure. The biggest change in this edition is that players build the dungeon as they travel. Starting on a beginning tile, each time you move to the end of a path, you draw from a stack of square dungeon tiles and choose which side to place in front of you. The first expansion to this edition, called Lairs and Lost Chambers, was published in 2024 and offers some new dungeon tiles with more challenges and rewards.  In 2025, there was a new expansion added called Underworld, which brings new challenges and levels of dungeon exploration. We should have stock soon.

Keep looking for new adventures in the world of Clank!
