The Traditional Spelling Level 1 has 34 lessons that follow a tidy 5-day structure, with one page of practice per day, except the 5th day – reserved for the weekly test. Spelling lists are made up of 10 words each and a helpful dictionary of them is included at the back of the book. The book includes 34 lessons in all.
Students will find plenty of variety throughout the lessons, including space for oral dictation, word puzzles, word‑root study, vocabulary practice, short stories, and color‑coding activities that help them see spelling patterns more clearly. Each student will need their own workbook. Level 1 Practice Sheets should be used for each lesson and include lined space to write each word twice.
The Traditional Spelling Level 1 Teacher Manual is required to teach the program, and all answer keys are provided there. A strong phonics foundation runs through every lesson, giving students the tools they need to decode and spell unfamiliar words with confidence.
