SU-57 Felon
The Su-57 Felon is a Russian fifth-generation fighter, developed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau as a successor to the Su-27 and a response to the American F-22 and F-35. Design work began in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and the first prototype – designated the T-50 – took to the air in 2010.
From the outset, the aircraft was intended to combine stealth, super-maneuverability, and multi-role capabilities, but the program faced numerous technical setbacks. Problems and accidents during testing resulted in repeated delays in the program, and delivery of the first production aircraft was postponed from 2015 to 2020. These aircraft were officially accepted into service in 2020, albeit in very limited numbers.
