Description

What's your favorite school subject? Geography? Well, um, er...no. That attitude could change with this guide, brainchild of Maggie Hogan (co-author of Hands-on Geography) and Cindy Wiggers (of Geography Matters). This curriculum is designed to incorporate geography with other school subjects so that it will be relevant and memorable, not isolated and disjointed. First, the authors impart enthusiasm for the subject matter, give the teacher a geography refresher course, and then provide practical, interesting, even (dare I say it) fun ways to intertwine geography with other subjects. Included are teaching tips, geography basics, lesson plans, reproducible activity pages and outline maps, a timeline with 300+ figures, all in a convenient digital PDF format, accessible with QR code found on the inside back cover of the book. Chapter 7 includes a unit study for Hans Brinker or The Silver Skates, so you will need a copy of that book as well. As protection for the overachieving teacher, a scope and sequence limits the amount of activities to be used in any one year. Please note that all printables are included online as downloadable PDFs, making the the book itself much smaller. All forms, resources and consumables that are available as PDFs are noted as such in the margins of the book. Just register the serial number inside the back cover and you will receive a link to download the PDFs. With so many tips, activity suggestions, lesson plans and more for grades K-12, this is a well-designed and helpful product.
