Primer Two Autumn, Primer Two Winter, and Primer Two Spring are sequential in skills, but can be used out of sequence if necessary.Before beginning Primer Two, a student should have achieved intermediate spelling and phonics proficiency, be able to read beginning chapter books with basic fluency, and be able to copy sentences and short paragraphs. Primer Two is very generally appropriate for 3rd-4th grade students but could be used very effectively by older students as well.

They should also be able to read beginning chapter books with basic fluency and copy sentences and short paragraphs. Students can begin the series at their current skill level. More writing is expected with Primer Two, as students are expected to write their copywork passages in a separate composition book. Additional resources include Just So Stories (Spring), Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (Spring), and two out-of-print titles Childhood’s Favorites & Other Fairy Tales and Thirty More Stories Retold. These out-of-print titles are available free in online archives.
