Description

Skunks, donkeys, snakes, elephants, and more capricious characters compete for attention and fame in this fabulous 10-minute Fliptoons card game by Thunderworks Games.

In this quick deck-building game, the goal is to gain the most fame possible each turn by purchasing cards with the highest possible fame each round and discarding lower fame cards. Be the player with the most fame in the very last round to win!

In the center of the table, there are five price cards numbered 3, 4, 7, 10, and 15. To set up the round, shuffle the toon card deck and deal 5 beneath the price cards, arranging them in the order of their rank, which is displayed as a number at the bottom of the cards. This group of cards is referred to as “the market.” The Critic’s Choice card is also placed near the market, which is awarded to the first person who attains 30 fame points in any round (which is a game-end trigger).

Determine the first player and start the game. Each player has an identical starting deck of 6 cards, which they shuffle before the game starts. Moving from top left across three cards, then bottom left across three more cards, all players simultaneously deal out a 3x2 card grid and flip them to their “toon” side.

Starting with the first player, evaluate each card in your grid for total fame generated. Next, take one of two possible actions. 1) Go to the market and purchase (hire) a “toon” card costing less than or equal to your fame total. 2)  Dismiss a “toon” you already own for a cost of 5 fame. This helps move out less desirable cards to increase your fame on any one turn in the future. After each person completes their action, refill the market and rearrange them by rank. All players collect the cards from their grid and other cards they own and shuffle them for the next turn.

If any player has 30 fame points after calculating the fame in their grids, the game end triggers. The person with 30 fame points collects the Critic’s Choice card, which generates 3 fame points in the final round. After everyone lays out their next card grid and calculates their fame, the person with the most fame in the final round wins the game!
