The Foundations, Book 1 Student Manual from Summit Ministries will help your student think carefully and respond to what they read in the Student Textbook. Each chapter begins with a syllabus that breaks down each lesson into 8 class periods. Assignments include discussion questions for each section of the Student Textbook, enrichment activities, videos, and reviews. All discussion questions, video notes, and reviews have ample space for students to write down their answers in the book.
The enrichment activities include searching the Bible, creative projects, teacher-led exercises, and real-life application. Many of these would work well in small groups, but they could be adapted to a parent/child or home setting.
Each chapter also includes a section where students watch and answer questions about several video lessons. These videos can be accessed by going to the Summit Ministries website and typing in the code that is found in the back of the Student Manual. Most of these videos are recorded classroom lectures given by experts in their field. Students may choose to pause the video as they watch to allow time to fill in any blanks and answer the questions. At the end of each chapter is the study guide with questions reviewing major themes and concepts.
The final project for the course has students creating a personal statement of faith that reflects their beliefs and worldview. Softcover, 372 pages. ~Tara
