Description

This second volume in the Child's Geography series takes an in-depth look at six countries in the Middle East: Turkey, Israel, Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan. The text speaks directly to the students, walking them through geographical features, cultural aspects, and human-interest points. Key vocabulary words are highlighted in bold. The study of each country is divided into 3 sections. Each section includes informative text, with additional "Field Notes" questions which help students relate what they have learned. Students examine what they have learned, responding either verbally or by writing in their own “travel" notebook, to questions that range from comprehension to personal application. At the end of each chapter, more activities really open up a world of exploration. A "Travel Log" prompts students to draw a map of the country in focus, labeling it with cities, regions, features and other sights. They will also make travel log entries, remembering important things that caught their attention. The "Bringing it Home" activities encourage exploration in art, music, reading, food, and poetry through simple, homeschool friendly activities. Here, are also included updated, when applicable, good website links for further study. At the end of each country's study, a final activity provides a spiritual application for learning. A "Go Into All the Word" page includes a written prayer so that your whole family can effectively pray for this country's peoples and cultures. As a PDF on our web site, is an additional printable including chapter definitions, copywork, scripture, the student travel log, and review questions with answers. Book includes an appendix “Fast Facts" of the 6 countries and key definitions for each chapter. 224 pgs, sc.

Category Description for A Child's Geography (Masterbooks)
Written in the conversational style of Hillyer's Child's Geography of the World, this introductory geography study incorporates engaging text and a variety of activities to bring geography alive. Geography of the earth is approached as if you and your children were taking a journey through and around the earth, learning everything about the Earth as a whole, as well as the individual continents and countries as you journey through each volume. This series is currently being updated by Master Books, so please contact us to verify the in-stock editions. If you are familiar with the previous edition, you will notice that much of the readings are the same. Visually and organizationally, there are notable differences in the Master Book editions from the introductory information and recommended 3-day per week schedule, updated graphics, and reproducible (for your family) worksheets. As someone who used the first editions of these volumes, I greatly appreciate Master Book's efforts to make them more user-friendly, as well as to add more vibrant illustrations to engage learners (and parents!) See individual product descriptions for Volume specific content. Softbound. ~Deanne
