Very hefty (352 pgs) worktexts with bright, colored pages, lots of variety, solid instruction and step-by-step sequential lessons. The presentation with explanations and models is really very good - perhaps because these are stand-alone books (no separate teacher edition) so the instruction is clear, understandable, and all here. Answers are included, too. The Complete Book of Math volumes are divided into chapters based on skill. The Grades 1-2 book covers Patterns, Sorting and Classifying, Numbers and Counting, Comparing, Geometry, Addition and Subtraction, Place Value, Two- and Three-Digit Addition and Subtraction, Measurement, Graphing, Time, Money and Fractions. Grades 3-4 book includes Place Value; Addition; Subtraction; Multiplication; Division; Geometry; Fractions; Decimals; Graphs, Tables and Diagrams; Measurements; Time; and Money. Use these for basal instruction along with a manipulative-based program or use as practice pages where needed (pages are perforated for easy removal).

This workbook fits in nicely as a little extra supplement. We bought it during our daughter's Kindergarten year and found it to be a terrific asset. It was challenging yet simple enough for her to quickly master the concepts. I personally feel that she learned a lot more using this along with her main Math curriculum.

I LOVE this workbook. I feel it is a great comprehensive workbook for my son. He is a little advanced in his math (he can do basic addition/subtraction in his head faster than my husband and I, and he's only 5!), so while he is currently in Kindergarten, this book is perfect for him. Most of it is challenging while keeping his interest. I love that every page is colored. The graphics and layout are easy to read and fun. I also like how each "section" (i.e., addition/subtraction, geometry, etc.) has a variety of different pages, so we can pick and choose to keep him interested. There are some activities that require coloring, circling, writing, cutting and arranging, etc.; so that different learning styles are addressed. Of course, there are a few areas that are a little too challenging for him (such as writing all the numbers, by twos, up to 100!), but I feel that he is getting a great comprehensive introduction to basic math skills while having fun. I plan on going back once he's gone through most of the book to retry some of the more difficult pages. Overall a great starter "curriculum" for anyone just beginning to homeschool.
