Abacus, Side-to-side, Blue and Yellow
A side-to-side plastic bead abacus. There are 10 wire rows of 10 beads each on a 9” x 8” plastic frame. The most helpful feature of the abacus is the use of blue and yellow colored beads -there are 5 of each color per row- which makes it more effective for all operations.

I started this wonderful math program with my 5 year old a few months ago and she is flying through it. In retrospect, I probably could have started her with Level B. The program is very hands on and uses a variety of different materials to enhance learning such as card games, rhymes, and manipulatives. If you have more than one child at home, even if they are too young to participate fully, I highly recommend getting them their own abacus to play with during math time.
I am so excited to re-learn math using this innovative method. Visual and mental math make so much sense to me. I want my child to be able to easily figure out a tip in her head for example, and I am convinced this program will give her that, and many more abilities. Yesterday when we were getting ready to play another round of "Go to the Dump" my daughter said to me "I love math!". And that's the best review of all.
