Great book!
This is a fantastic learn-to-draw book. Other than the parent or teacher reading the introduction material, it's an open and go type of book. The lessons are short, and you can spend a few minutes doing part of a lesson, or a longer time and complete the lesson.

Wonderful, simple drawing instructions
I was looking for a drawing book with simple open and go lessons and this book exactly fits that bill. I've never learned to draw and am trying to learn now as an adult. I love that each drawing lesson is short and easy to stop in the middle of. I've also done some of the very simple drawings with my seven year old. Highly recommend. and the price is awesome!

I have spent alot of time looking at art programs and having been under instruction for 10 years I knew what I wanted but couldn't find it Well now I have! This book will get everyone on their way to being great with a pencil to expressing themselves visually These easy step by step instructions can be done alone or in a group For young children it will provide many many lessons For older it can be completed in a year After this book you'll need a ream of plain paper and any pencil/charcoal pencil I say join the kids and learn to draw There is very little prep involved Enjoy!

Very effective and simple to use
I was a little disappointed when I opened the box and saw that this book was basically a glorified pamphlet, BUT when I started using it, I realized the value of the information and lessons within! And my kids love doing drawing lessons with this book. It starts simple and builds on the skills they learn and they end up drawing really neat pictures! My oldest daughter drew a candle in one of the lessons and now she plans to use that information to make Christmas cards by drawing the candle and embellishing to make it Christmas-y. Totally worth the price and very easy to use.

I used this book when my mom homeschooled me back in the 80s, and I was thrilled to find that it was still available. Everything I draw that isn't a stick figure, I learned from this book. I look forward to using it with my girls.

My children all enjoy to draw, and my second child is especially gifted artistically, but I think a methodical course in drawing instruction will help them to be able to put on paper whatever ideas they have in their heads!

We tried Drawing With Children by Mona Brooks but it was to much teacher planning for me. I continue to come across Drawing Textbook in my favorite forums, people seem to love it's ease of use. I also hear that it is pulled off of the shelf over and over as a reference or refresher in drawing.

I used this book years ago when homeschooling my 4 children. Now I want to use it in my school classroom but was unable to find my copy. I loved it so much the first time around, I just needed to use it again in my school room so I'm buying a replacement copy. It's worth it!

6 year old loves to draw. Says she wants to be an artist. I told her not to quit her day job! But I have heard this is a great resource for learning to draw, and while I won't tell DD she can make a living as an artist, I won't stop her for learning and enjoying art. Who knows. Maybe she will one day be famous! Maybe.
