I have found Horizons math to be thorough and enjoyable Lessons are colorful and include several different exercises for example a single lesson may cover time money addition multiplication and word problems This keeps each function fresh in the student's mind The only problem I've found is that each set is about a year ahead of my child's level so in 4th grade she's using level 3 etc Also additional practice in multiplication has been necessary Overall it's the best program I've found thus far

I appreciate the thorough spiral approach in the earlier Horizons books.

Horizon Math seems to explain and present their lessons in an understandable, clear, usable, and visually pleasing way. I really like the way that they organize new thoughts - in charts (with color). For my daughter, who is a visual learner and struggles with Math, I think that the simple organization and color will really help her. We have been using Saxon, which is a daunting curriculum for a visual learner, in my opinion. It's so boring for her!

I have used these books with my previous children. I love the spiral approach and they are a little more advanced then some curriculum but really build a solid foundation in math.

We have done sets with my younger boys, I am hoping this will be effective with my older son.

Horixzons math has been working very well for us. This is our 3rd year with Horizons. My daughter is learning her math concepts well and even enjoys doing it!

We have used same curriculum for math since Kinder and we love it
Ameye C on Aug 25, 2016
We love Horizons math! It reviews material on each worksheet from previous lessons, the lessons are all laid out for you, and it's very affordable. Plus the curriculum carries on for grades 7 and 8 with pre-algebra. Nicely done!

does this set include the tests? or do I purchase the tests separately?
A shopper on Dec 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The tests are actually included in the student workbooks (in between lessons). You can either rip them out (along the perforated edges) and have your child take the test with a closed workbook or you can have the child take the test right out of the workbook. My boys never realize it's a test and complete it as "just another lesson" which seems to offer a lot less pressure for them and some pleasantly surprised kids.
Does this include the teachers book and all the workbooks and the manipulative kit?
A shopper on Oct 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: These kits include both the student textbooks and the teacher's guide, which includes answers for grading. It does not include manipulative. There are excellent manipulatives by grade levels that work very well with this curriculum for sale at Rainbow though. It is an easy teach, easy grade curriculum and I have loved it through the years. My children are always way ahead with this curriculum (I have graduated 2 and have 2 children to go) and they love doing it! (Well, as much as kids love doing Math and school work...that's always a day to day thing)
