So far so good
We haven't used this long but I am pleased so far. My daughter was finally able to wrap her brain around long division with this program. Using word problems to lay out the process is ingenious! We look forward to continuing with it. I wanted something she could do a little more independently. I have had to help her but once she got the concept she has been able to work on her own.

I have been using David Quine's Making Math Meaningful Curriculum since my children were in first grade. This is the second to last book in the series, and it has worked very well for our family.

The product description says it teaches for understanding and not just procedure. This is important to me. I use another program that teaches this way but it is very teacher intensive, even in the later grades, when not as necessary. This program is said to teach directly to the student. My hope is that it will do just that and free me up to work more with my younger students.

I have used this series with all of my kids. I really like how the text is scripted in the early years and leads to more independent work in the later levels. I like how it focuses on learning the "why" of how math works.

My kids find the teaching style of this series fun and easy to understand. They especially like the historical and daily application lessons. Lessons also offer several different assignments geared towards different learning styles so I can skip an assignment that might be frustrating and give them a similar one that suits them better. Although most of the time I mix the different styles up to challenge them.
