Hi, I'm hoping to teach an hour of Greek per week in a homeschool co-op to 2nd grade students. I'm wondering if I should start with the next level of "Hey Andrew..."? Any thoughts?

BEST ANSWER: This is a lovely, gentle approach to beginner Koine Greek. My son used it in second grade and liked it. That said, it is extremely repetitive and not terribly interesting. In a co-op setting, I think it would be hard to fill an hour time slot with this program and keep the children focused. In addition, the program uses inductive teaching methods. We are on book 3 now, and my son is having difficulty connecting the dots on conjugations and declensions. He also has been learning Latin since first grade, and he is used to parsing the words. At this point, Hey Andrew is not teaching that way. We are switching to Memoria Press's Elementary Greek.

I would suggest using Classical Academic Press's Greek Code Cracker for your co-op littles. My son LOVED it, and it kept him excited to continue learning Greek. I think it would be a fun, engaging way to teach Greek and would itself well to creative group activities as there are mysteries to solve!

This is just my two cents, but I hope it helps.
