More rigorous than typical high school literature study guides, Prestwick House AP Literature Teaching Units are designed to prepare students for the Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition exam. After a chapter-by-chapter book study, students respond to both multiple-choice questions and short answer or essay prompts that are comparable to those students will find on the AP exam. Throughout the study, there is more emphasis on discussion along with character, cultural, political, and literary analysis. Close reading that requires support of all assertions and interpretations with textual evidence is featured in the chapter studies as well as the essay and discussion questions for the entire book. The answers and talking points provided for the teacher strengthen the learning experience for students as part of the evaluation process. The loose-leaf teaching courses are hole punched and include a three-ring binder. Teacher information includes objectives, extensive background information on the book and author, and answers for all student worksheet questions. The student worksheets are also included and are reproducible for one class/family.
We are now offering AP literature packages for customer convenience. The package includes the AP Literature Teaching Unit and the corresponding literature book. These literature guides offer a more rigorous literature option, offering the student an opportunity to prepare for the AP or Advanced Placement English Language and Composition Exam by the College Board. ~ Janice/Judy
Please note that a brief synopsis of many of the books included here are provided in our Library Builders section. Study guides for the same book are often available from several publishers, so we found it more efficient to give a description of the book only once.
