Description

Players step inside a plant cell to initiate the actions used by its cell structures to balance resources, nourish growth and oversee plant development while learning how a plant makes cellulose and then uses it to build strong plant cells. In this fun, strategic game, you learn the science behind the functions and structures of plant cells using game actions and resources that illustrate the roles that cell structures play and the processes that take place in order to utilize proteins, water, CO2, hormones and carbohydrates to regulate, grow, develop and strengthen a plant. Gameplay takes place through three different phases that make up each game round. During these phases, advance along a “Plant Board” to the most advantageous positions for resource collection, place action markers on different cell structures on the game board that provide resources to make carbohydrates or ATP, continue plant growth, add to the cell wall or allow purchase of cell component cards. Cell component cards provide additional resources and give players game-end health points. Building the cell wall is a central activity to the game, as it not only provides health points but its completion triggers the end of the game. The player with the most health points wins the game! Cellulose provides a great opportunity to learn more about plant biology, while providing an enjoyable activity either as a solo or multi-player game. 1-5 players, with a playtime of 60-90 minutes.
