Description

I was curious how a book was going to show kids how to do genealogy without using the internet. Well, to my surprise, it does just fine! The first part is all about gathering data and keeping it organized, with a lot of stress on the organization! Readers learn what is a reliable source vs. an unreliable source, how to handle discrepancies in your discoveries, the best ways to use family source information and libraries, how to glean information from artifacts, and more. At one point, young learners are encouraged to visit reliable and safe online sites to find more information, but that is not the focus of the guide. An interesting section late in the book also explains how to start documenting your own life to make it easier for a descendent to research YOU. There are some fascinating text bits to read between your research guidance. It's a cool read that offers loads of practical help! ~Sara
