Product Description:

Standards-based for grades 5-8 but written at a 3rd-4th grade reading level, this book primarily provides reproducible worksheets – lots of them. An overview section on cells plus seven body systems (skeletal, muscular, nervous, respiratory, digestive, excretory, and reproductive) are covered. Exercises are based on 1-2 page reading selections. An eighteen-page section of “posters” in the back are full-color illustrations, and “cutaways” of body systems and anatomy. Answers are in the back.

Publisher Description:

Take your students through a fascinating journey of the Human Body with our 3-book BUNDLE.

Start your journey with Cells, Skeletal & Muscular Systems. Build your own cell by sculpting the different parts. Invent your own alien skeleton using the different bones found in the human body. Next, visit your Senses, Nervous & Respiratory Systems. Learn how the brain interprets things we see with our eyes. Conduct an experiment to see just how much air your lungs can hold. Finally, end your journey with the Circulatory, Digestive & Reproductive Systems. Examine your own heartbeat as you learn how to take your pulse. Build a model of a kidney to see it working in action. Each concept is paired with hands-on activities and experiments. Aligned to the Next Generation State Standards and written to Bloom's Taxonomy and STEAM initiatives, additional crossword, word search, comprehension quiz and answer key are also included.

This looked like something my 8th grader could handle for an introduction to anatomy. Supplementing this unit with an Outschool course.

Planned it as a filler but could be a stand alone curriculum.
Used this in conjunction with MB living healthy for a full year. I got a variety of extension/research topics and could spend extra time talking about specific subjects like muscles and organ systems. I planned to use these together so I don’t know how complete it would be as a stand alone. Enjoy the set up with in the sections: inquiry to what the student knows, reading sections, basic questions about reading, extension and application section where concepts taught are given weight.
