These mini lessons give students targeted instruction along with guided and independent practice that help students reach grade-level expectations. Each passage is given in three reading levels (first passage is two grade levels below, second passage one grade level below, and the third is on grade level). The lessons begin by giving a background about the text type and genre of each section. A reproducible graphic organizer also gives information to help introduce the text type. After the student reads the text type, comprehension questions follow. The goal is for below-grade-level students to eventually move up to the on-grade-level passages, which include richer vocabulary and language structures. This series helps students gradually improve their reading comprehension while analyzing opinion, informational, and narrative passages. ~ Gina
