180 Days of Social Studies for Second Grade
180 Days of Social Studies for Second Grade provides teachers and parents with 180 days of daily practice to build students' social studies content-area literacy. The quick, diagnostic-based activities support the C3 Framework and allow busy teachers to cover social studies content daily. Through these weekly units, grade 2 students will analyze and evaluate primary source documents, answer text-dependent questions, and improve their social studies knowledge, critical thinking, and reasoning skills. Each week will assess students' knowledge of grade-level social studies content, and focuses on a grade-level topic within one of the four social studies disciplines: geography, economics, civics, and history. This resource helps teachers meet the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) and state standards in their classrooms. With these daily activities, students will increase their social studies knowledge in no time! Digital files are included.
This well-constructed secular series from Teacher Created Resources is a great supplement to assure you’ve covered state standards as well as provided quality daily work for your students. The series provides practice opportunities as well as assessment; you diagnose areas of concern and address them by slowing down, speeding up or re-teaching any concepts. The 180 days (one page per school day) of black and white worksheets (reproducible for classroom/families) cover grade-appropriate topics in each of four areas: Civics, Economics, Geography, and History. One area is covered each week. For instance, explorers (history), principles of American democracy and the Constitution (civics), major features represented on maps and globes (geography), and trade and economic independence (economics). The topics build on each other as well as being related in a general way across the year. For instance, Explorers and Early American history in Grade 3. Digital resources (available from the publisher’s website) include rubrics, analysis sheets, and standards correlations. Answer key is available in the back of each book. ~ Janice
