Conceptual Chemistry, College Prep Self-Study Online Course
Designed to be used alongside the Conceptual Chemistry (5th Ed.) text, (sold separately), this online course features video instruction, automated quizzes, worksheets, exams, study advice, computer simulations, and more all designed to correlate with the textbook. Lightweight, simpler lab activities can be found within the textbook and can be done with minimal equipment. Conceptual Academy does recommend several more intense lab activities with the additional purchase of a lab kit. Please see the downloable User's Manual PDF (linked above) for more information, or visit the Conceptual Academy website.
College Preparatory Chemistry (#069868) is 31 lessons and is designed for high school students likely to pursue a degree in physical science. It covers most, but not all of the textbook; a Full Course (see #069867) is also available that has 35 lessons and covers the whole textbook.
This self-study course is designed for students who have an interest in pursuing further studies in any of the physical sciences at the college level and beyond. While this may also be accomplished by enrolling the full version of Conceptual Chemistry, this course omits many of the topics of chemistry, such as agriculture, so that the student has more time to focus on challenging concepts, such as atomic orbitals and stoichiometry. To make for a solid foundation, fewer topics are given in each class to allow for more in-depth study, which should include more end-of-chapter exercises and problems. This course works well as a preparation for college general chemistry, but only when the student also has strong math skills. To learn more about this course, please review its users manual.
Items listed in this section tend to be complete science programs with a teacher and student component, requiring few supplements besides science supplies.
