Product Description:

Winner of the prestigious 2017 Spiel des Jahres award (Game of the Year), this clever domino-style tile game is fantastic for families! Each player is the ruler of a small kingdom; but one crucial component is missing: land! Throughout the game, players take turns acquiring 1x2" "domino" tiles with each half representing a combination of grassland, wheat, forest, sea, or mountain. Tiles are then placednext toa player'sCastle or a tile with the same landscape. When a player finishes his 5x5 kingdom, scores are counted: each type of land gains points based on its total size multiplied by the number of Crowns on the landscape. So the ultimate goal is to create the biggest landscapes with the most Crowns- but players who take better tiles (higher numbers) must pick later the following round, often preventing them from getting the perfect piece! The clever mechanics, simple premise, and colorful illustrations ensure that the whole family can get in on this delightful game! For 2-4 players; 15 minutes.

Publisher Description:

Dominoes with a kingdom building twist. Each turn, connect a new domino to your existing kingdom, making sure at least one of its sides connects to a matching terrain type already in play. The game mechanics for obtaining the tiles is clever: the order of who picks first depends on which tile was previously chosen. Make sure to secure tiles with crowns- these royal treasures help to multiply the worth of your kingdom at the end of the game! The game ends when each player has completed a 5x5 grid, and then points are counted based on number of connecting tiles and crowns.

Category Description for Kingdomino / Queendomino:

This clever domino-style tile game is fantastic for families! Each piece is a numbered tile with each half representing a combination of grassland, wheat, forest, sea, or mountain. In each round, tiles are drawn and arranged in numerical order. Players take turns claiming tiles. Beginning with the player who claimed the lowest-ranked tile, players add the tiles to their kingdom, placing it next to their Castle or a tile with a matching landscape. Then, a player places their king on the next set of tiles and the cycle continues. The player with the most valuable tile picks last in the next round. When a player finishes his 5x5 kingdom, scores are counted, and the player with the most points wins. The clever mechanics, simple premise, and colorful illustrations ensure that the whole family can get in on this delightful game! For 2-4 players; 15 minutes.

I have been looking for a suitable and exciting board game for my 9 year old nephew. His mother highly recommended Kingdomino. The more I read about it, the more perfect I think this game is for my nephew who is very bright and has a "take charge" attitude when it comes to Board Games. I can't wait to play it with him and let him do the explaining.

I have been playing this game online and want to introduce it to my gaming friends. The game rules are simple to learn, the mechanics are well balanced and while the game is mostly passive aggressive it requires enough attention to your other players to keep me interested.
