Introduction to Anatomy & Physiology Curriculum Pack
Includes textbooks: Intro: Musculoskeletal System and Cardio-Vascular/Respiratory Systems and corresponding TG.
This engaging curriculum is sure to interest students in the inner workings of the human body.
Volume One, The Musculoskeletal System, opens with the building blocks of your bodythe cells.
Your body is built from many kinds of cells and tissues, and you will learn how they work. Even the bones and muscles that give you strength and speed depend on many types of cells. This book will:
- Show you the ins and outs of the bones in your skeleton and how they function
- Give detail as to how your marvelous muscles move you
- Provide a detailed glossary in the back for quick reference!
Throughout the book you will learn things to do to keep your body healthy. But in a fallen, cursed world things are bound to go wrong. We will look at what happens when disease or injury affects bones and muscles.
Volume Two, Cardiovascular and Respiratory Systems. From the level of the cell to the organs themselves, we will examine these systems in depth. Here you will learn:
- The incredible design of the human heart and how it is really two pumps in one!
- How blood moves through an incredible network of arteries and veins
- What blood pressure is and the marvelous systems that help regulate it
- How the respiratory system allows us to get the bad air out and the good air in
Along the way, we will see what happens when things go wrong. We will also suggest things to do to keep the heart and lungs healthy. Although the world insists that our bodies are merely the result of time and chance, as you examine the human body closely, you will see that it cannot be an accident. It can only be the product of a Master Designer.
This newly developed series, written by Answers in Genesis speaker, Dr. Tommy Mitchell, introduces us to the power of our Master Designer displayed in His most complex creation: humans. Each one-year course includes 2 hardcover textbooks and one teacher guide. Textbooks are written to the student using understandable, straightforward text. Vibrant graphics highlight the textual information and provide students with a valuable visualization of the teaching. Texts include a comprehensive glossary and index. 110 pgs each. Teacher Guides provide a weekly lesson schedule based on 5 days per week, reproducible student worksheets, quizzes/tests and answer key for two textbooks. Daily lessons will take 30-45 minutes per day. Student worksheets are perforated and reproducible for homeschool families or small classrooms with fewer than 10 students. SC.
I appreciate that this series starts out on the right track with clear explanations of the complex concepts, making a valuable teaching tool for families with a background in medicine or for a novice family. Course includes no experiments, which may appeal to families who want a solid understanding of anatomy and physiology without the mess of labs. If you would to incorporate hands-on activities, Janice Van Cleave's Human Body for Every Kid may be helpful. This may appeal to families who want a solid understanding of anatomy and physiology without the predicament of dissection. I am excited to see this series through its completion, since it sets a solid foundation for the high-school level sciences, preparing students a course like Apologia Biology (which does not incorporate Anatomy). Books are available separately or in a Systems Kit which includes two textbooks and the Teacher Guide. ~ Deanne
