Is it made of wood?
BEST ANSWER: No, it is made of plastic. It's still pretty nifty, though.

Affordable and Useful

Great MINI Balance
The balance is well-made, and the plastic weights are pretty sturdy. However, it's not 25 1/2 inches wide as described. It's more like 13 inches wide. I personally was thrilled to see how small it was. We bought it to use with Rightstart Math; it's cheaper and more compact/storable than the one they sell. I would recommend!

Excellent tool for studying sums and inequalities
The math balance is great!!
You can use it to visually support learning which numbers are greater than or less than each other.
You can also use it to visually support addition and multiplication.
We use it often in basic math.
It is sturdy enough for the student to use him - / her- self. All you need is a flat surface and a couple of feet of space.
I highly recommend this product.
