Now there's finally an answer to the question "What do I use after Easy Grammar Plus?" The Ultimate Series looks like Daily Grams but functions as a continuation to the instruction and mastery found in Easy Grammar. Just like Daily Grams, the course is divided into 180 daily 10 minute lessons but these are teaching lessons as well as review lessons. Each of these lessons provides the familiar capitalization, punctuation and sentence combining exercises. The remaining two exercises per lesson vary. Content includes parts of speech, phrases/clauses, analogies, sentence fragments/run-ons, prefixes/suffixes/roots, dictionary, spelling, simple/compound/complex sentences. In each daily lesson there is instruction associated with at least one of the exercises. Students are to read and discuss the instruction, complete the exercises, and participate in a discussion of the answers. Consistent with mastery learning, concepts are introduced, expanded and reviewed. The Teacher Book includes reproducible student pages with answers in the back. The Student Book is not reproducible and includes only the student pages. The Test Booklet which is reproducible provides one assessment for every 10 lessons. Pages are perforated with answers for each on the facing page to the assessment. In other words, each test page has answers to the following test on the back. ~ Janice

I didn't see that the student test booklet was physically separate from the teacher's edition, so I am ordering the test booklet after we received the daily lessons and answer key in the teacher's edition. Perhaps each page might contain suggested links to "companion" materials to make it more clear.

We have been using Easy Grammar for 3 years. The rules are starting to stick. The rules of grammar are many and often don't make sense. Easy grammar uses quick, repetitive lessons for learning.

I have used the Easy Grammar series (Daily Grams and Easy Grammar) with my children beginning with the 2nd grade book, right up through High School. It was an important and effective part of my Language Arts curriculum; easy to manage lessons and corrections, students were able to work independently. Consistent practice led to strong language arts skills and success in later grades.

I am a little disappointed that the answers to the tests are on the page directly across from the test page. If you rip the test page out of the book, the answers for the next test are on the back of that page.
As far as test materials go, they are good tests for the material covered, and very easy to schedule (one test at the end of each 10th lesson).

Good daily review
These tests are easy to copy (no bulky book) and are short and easy if the student reads and completes the one-page worksheets. They will test your student's comprehension of the worksheet material following every ten lessons. The material is perfect for my student who does not love English rules. Also, we have found no errors or typos to date--about 1/3 of the way through the school year. At minimum, you will need to purchase an Easy Grammar Ultimate Teacher's Edition for your grade level (the worksheet answer key is in the back) AND these tests.

I recommend this with the Easy Grammar Ultimate Series Daily Grams for Gr 9. Helps keep Grammar rules fresh in their minds as they practice reading & writing skills in other ways.

Tests are simple
I like these tests because they are simple and aren't tricky. If the student did the worksheets, then these tests are not hard. They merely check to see if the student is retaining the concepts.
