Product Description:

Savvas brings the standards of a classroom curriculum to homeschool. This homeschool bundle includes a hardcover student text, two Teacher Resource DVDs, and a postcard with instructions for registering for online access to teaching resources, an e-text, videos and much more.
The student text is substantial, with 1110 pages. There are 21 chronological "topics" or units, starting with the origins of civilization and ending with the world today (1980-present). Each topic is divided into shorter chapters, which end with several assessment questions. There are plenty of visuals, including illustrations, maps, charts, arwork from that period and more. "Topics" each include objectives, terms to define, end-of-unit assessment questions and a reminder to go online to for digital resources.
All of the teaching resources are found online at You will receive a postcard with your bundle that includes instructions on setting up an account. (Note: make sure you select the course title itself - World History 2016 - instead of searching for an actual school code.) Once logged in, click on the course title and you will see the table of contents for the course. When you click on a Topic, you will see several lessons for that unit, along with some additional assignments such as projects, videos or document-based activities. Printable tests and reviews can also be accessed here. Students can also access, download and print "Interactive Reading Notepads" which are Word documents that correlate with the reading assignments and offer space for notes and questions to check comprehension and understanding. Teaching resources for each lesson are found on the right side of the screen and typically include: answer keys (for the Interactive Reading Notepads, quizzes, and text questions); lesson summaries (provided in text, audio, Spanish and Spanish audio); teaching suggestions for English Language Learners, and a Lesson Organizer document which is a kind of a lesson plan with a listing of all of the readings, assignments, and objectives for the lesson. Teachers also have the ability to customize tests for each lesson, adding questions from a testbank or writing their own. You also have the option to create a class and track student assignment progress. There is a lot to look at at, so I would plan to spend some time browsing through what is offered to familiarize yourself with where to locate all of the various resources.
The third part of the bundle is the Teacher Resource DVD set. No printables, assessments or lesson plans are included on these DVDs.
This course is a good option for families looking for a secular high school world history course where both teacher and student have reliable internet access. There is a good amount of video and audio content, which will appeal to students who may struggle with a completely textbook-based course.

My oldest daughter currently in college suggested it would be a good idea for my Senior to have a world history course that was secular. This seemed to be a good choice as Pearson is well know.

I'm wondering if this could be used over two years, 9th and 10th grades, since it seems quite long. can it be completed in one year?
A shopper on Jul 11, 2021
BEST ANSWER: There is definitely enough material for two years. You could also use only half of the book if you want either ancient (1st half) or modern (2nd half) world history. It would be more of a general overview (not much time for any in-depth study) if you try to do the entire book in one year.
How long is the online part available for?
A shopper on Sep 12, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I think it is good for one acadmemic year. We used ours last year beginning in Sept and when I tried to check something in August, I no longer had access.
Hi, I am trying to match the ISBN of just the textbook (not the bundle). Could you post what is that isbn 10 or isbn 13?
User on Aug 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The textbook has a 2014 copyright date. ISBNs are: 9780133307023 and 0133307026.
it the teacher edition online?
A shopper on Jun 27, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes it is. You will get a card with the bundle that walks you through how to set up to see the online component directly through Pearson.

Ok, but could use improvement.
Material isn’t bad, but there are a lot of typos in the book, doesn’t seem edited very well. Software was a disappointment. Not near as user friendly as other software I have used. End of chapter assessments are very lengthy and more in-depth then the material in the chapters really cover in some cases.

I bought this bundle for my daughter who has always hated history It is an excellent bundle the teacher book has the whole student text plus extra for more backgroud information and questions to ask You don't have to remember everything from hisory Everything is very colorful and easy to understand It also has online codes that go with the lessons some are videos interactive maps and online quizzes to check progress My daughter does look forward to doing history now and often does more than planned for a lesson! So for us it was definately worth it!
