Description

Adding jokes to handwriting practice is sure to be a hit with many beginning writers. Starting with each letter on a page, the student will do their upper and lower case at once. Instruction uses arrows and dotted letters to trace and then write on your own. At the top of each page is a little joke: What do alligators drink before a race? What do planets like to read? Why didn't the fly land on the computer? The next section practices writing words that come from the joke at the top of the page. When asked: What do you call a dinosaur that is sleeping? A dino-snore! Your student writes words like: is, call, that, and dinosaur on the page below. In the third and last section, the child reads the joke and traces the answer; then later, reads the jokes and writes in the answers without help. This would be fun for a student needing extra handwriting practice who can work mostly independently. You could also add handwriting paper to this book for additional practice at each skill. Nice white pages and cute animal pictures add to the appeal. ~Sara
