Skills center on the ability to complete different types of sentences and designate the proper usage of nouns, pronouns, and verbs in those sentences. Students also learn about different types of writing, such as fairy tales, folk tales, fables, legends and myths. Includes legends of David and Goliath, and Zeus and Prometheus. They will be introduced to the media and differences in facts and opinions as well as differing points of view. Homophones, homographs and compound words are the spelling focus. They will also master beginning research, writing and speaking skills.

Designed as an independent learning curriculum, the Starline Press English programs cover a variety of language arts skills at grade appropriate levels. Aligned to California state standards (Please see publisher website for CA state standards correlation), each grade level provides self- directed instruction with minimal teacher supervision. Grades 3-8 complete twelve units (booklets) per year, with units averaging 24-60 pgs. each with a suggested 3 week completion timeframe. Grades 9-12 complete 5 booklets per semester/10 per year. Consumable booklets are colorfully illustrated and soft cover. Each grade level includes vocabulary lists, fill in the blank questions, chapter reviews, and unit tests. Literature studies are included in the fifth grade, seventh grade and upper high school levels. You may wish to include additional, grade appropriate literature with the other levels. My children are so happy!!
I cannot praise this curriculum enough. Such a well rounded curriculum that allows my children to teach themselves and have more responsibility over their education. I love the character traits built into it. We have tried many different kinds throughout our homeschooling journey and they always fought me on having to do school with others we tried. My kids are starting their 2nd books now in some of the subjects and they absolutely love this kind of schoolwork. It has taken a lot of stress off my shoulders as all I have to do is grade and go over things they don’t understand. THAT is how well rounded and amazing this curriculum is. The examples and practice really helps them grasp the information given to them. It is truly a hidden gem and I wish more people would take the time to post reviews. Yes, it may be on the pricier side compared to others BUT, it is a full curriculum- all of it is amazing English, Math, Science and Social Studies. Occasionally there are some errors in the keys but I have not seen any in the curriculum itself. So I have no issue with the keys having printing or human error, I just let them know and they review and fix it. Again, may be pricey but these books are amazing and compared to private school or the hassle of piecing together each subject from various companies, the price is so totally worth it!!

I REALLY wanted to love this curriculum I wanted a secular alternative to the Christian workbook curricula available It's fine but goodness is it expensive! My 3rd grade year cost me almost $1000! I just don't understand where the extra value is Is the cost due to low volume? How can AOP and ACE print full-color (essentially equivalent) curriculum for so much less?
