Garbage to Gardens Compost Kit & Decomposition Book (Nancy B's Science Club)
Nancy B does it again as she teaches young scientists about recycling and composting. This kit only has two items in it a composter and journal the rest will come from you. Use potting soil to fill your composter and choose items to decompose watch what happens! The sides of the composter have magnified circles, so you can see the decomposition up close. Through 8 different activities, children will learn about creatures that help with decomposition, what things decompose the best, discover the difference between dirt and soil, what makes healthy soil, and more. Observe and record your data as you learn about microorganisms and compostables. Warning you will get your hands dirty!
Which decays faster--a banana peel or a Styrofoam cup? Learn about life cycles and decomposition in this cool kit designed just for kids! This composting kit comes with two separate compartments and two built-in 3x magnifiers for viewing side-by-side decomposition. Center divider can be removed to compost an extra-large item. Encourage young scientists to take discovery to the next level--find out how with a 22-page activity journal that helps kids learn about life cycles and the environment. Perfect for science fair projects!
Although designed especially to appeal to girls, we love these kits because they include tools for observation along with a guided journal that helps them to use the tool and apply it to their own investigations. The viewers are all a step up from just a toy, with decent-quality plastic optics (or glass, in the case of the telescope) and additional tools built in to aid in observations (like a compass on the binoculars and a ruler on the aquascope). Each viewer is also packaged with a full-color, 22-page activity journal, which helps kids use their tool for a variety of guided observations and activities.
