Product Description:

What spiritual goals do you have for your children? I assume your primary goal is for each child to have a real and vibrant relationship with the Lord. But beyond that will you be satisfied if they can recite stories from the Bible or do you want them to be able to give succinct and meaningful answers to the basic questions of the Christian faith What is grace? What is the gospel? The Westminster Shorter Catechism was constructed to teach children (and all students of the Bible) the biblical answers to these and other great questions of the Christian faith. The word "catechism" means exactly that: questions and answers. This devotional guide gives parents an easy-to-use tool for learning and discussing the biblical principles embedded in the 107 catechism questions and answers. Each question is presented with six days worth of devotional readings for families to share. These readings are brief to accommodate children's short attention spans while giving biblical support and simple explanations. Every day for a week, families are encouraged to ask the question reciting the answer several times. Memorization is accomplished almost painlessly. To make sure our 21st century ears can understand, the questions and answers from the 17th century document are written in modern English. 350 pgs, pb ~ Janice

Is this something a Protestant family would find useful?
A shopper on Nov 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. It covers the Westminster shorter catechism and falls right along a protestant viewpoint. We use it for our 14 yr old and 11 yr old daughters, and we like that it explains the catechism and gives scriptures to show them.

We have been using this book while my husband is deployed to Iraq and we have found it to be an amazing tool for family devotional time My husband videotapes the lessons and sends the tapes to me to play for our four children! Each week there is a new question based on the Westminster Shorter Catechism in modern English Along with the question and answer are six daily readings explaining the question and reading Scripture to go along with it The daily readings take about 10-15 minutes to complete and the book would take about two years to complete if you do one question each week The author even recommends working your way through the book more than once Even my three-year old is doing a great job memorizing the answers to the catechism questions! This is an amazing resource! I would wholeheartedly recommend it to any family looking for a way to teach their children sound reformed doctrine
