Category Description for Financial Math:

How often do you hear the question "...but, when am I ever going to use this?" Parents and students are often looking for real-life applications, and these workbooks are designed to develop real-life problem solving and money management skills while advancing the individual's personal financial literacy. In today's economic times, a sound understanding of financial matters is becoming increasingly important, and the contents of these books will provide exposure to basic, everyday business transactions such as comparing prices, taking out a loan, and renting vs. buying. Each lesson has a corresponding activity that provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the material presented, and the end of chapter reviews offer yet another chance for students to test their knowledge. The contents of Book 1 covers estimating, calculating change, understanding wages and earnings, comparing prices, and buying insurance. Book 2 covers managing checking and savings accounts, understanding credit cards and loans, owning a home, investing, and paying taxes. 96 pgs, answer key included, consumable, reproducible. - Enh

Is this and book 2 considered consumer math?
Tyra A on Jan 12, 2023
BEST ANSWER: I used it as a basic consumer math (high school) but supplemented it a bit with my own material. It is a bit outdated but does cover basics .
Does the Finacial Math include the answers or is there a separate teacher's manual?
A shopper on Dec 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: There is not a separate teachers manual. I bought for a friend & don't have it available to me any longer, but I believe there are at least answers to even or odd numbered problems if not all of them.
Does the financial math add up to a full credit or half?
Syd C on Jul 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We used both book one and book two and added in field trips and projects ( tax returns, budget, mortgage, shopping for insurance, etc.) and I counted it as a full credit due to the amount of work we did in addition to the books. We liked the books because they were centered on practical life skills and provided a good jumping off point for the various topics we wanted to cover.
