My Father's World
As the mom of a budding zoologist, I quickly found that most of the books we read covered the same informationoh, there may have been variations in content or images, but the animal species were nearly identical. I felt like we were always studying the same things. If you ever felt the same way with your little zoologist, I think you will be pleased with this excellent resource. From a Christian perspective, this book introduces children to some of God's unusual animal and plant creations found within nature.
Written and photographed by a father and son missionary team, the chapters are beautifully photographed and well-written. As a visual learner, I really appreciate how each of the topical chapters is color-coded, meaning that individual life forms studied are presented on uniquely colored pages. The information is presented in a story format and ranges from 3-7 pages per specimen. You and your children will be captivated reading about the Northern Potoo, Jabiru storks, black howler monkeys, monkey-faced orchids (yes - there really is such a flower), the poison dart frog, the Indian piper, the cacao tree, weasel and much more. Scripture references, observations about the marvelous design of our God and scientific names offer a refreshing look our Father's world. Magnificently illustrated with full color photographs, the entire family will be eager to learn more about God's creation. HC. 149 pgs. ~Deanne
