Product Description:

Learning place value is foundational to success in math at all levels. Designed to complement any curricula, this set of connecting base ten blocks provides hands-on reinforcement. Set contains 100 yellow unit (ones) cubes, 10 green rods (tens), 10 blue flats (hundreds) and 1 red thousand cube that snap easily together within each type, one fastening directly on top of the other (like LEGO®'s). Similar to #15316, except this set is multi-colored and does not include the teacher guide. Unit cubes measure approximately 1cm. ~Deanne

Category Description for Interlocking Base 10 Blocks/Cubes:

This linking set is similar to blue set above

This linking set is similar to blue set above, but blocks are constructed to link together top to bottom (like LEGOs). This allows students to actually build models of numbers, giving them a real "feel" for base ten concepts. Not just for place value, interlocking blocks also can be used to model addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and percents. The Starter Set is blue and contains 100 unit cubes, 30 rods, 10 flats, 1 decimeter cube and a teacher's manual. The manual includes teaching ideas for several different math concepts. Individual pieces can be ordered seperately.

CHOKING HAZARD (1). Not <3yrs.

It is always helpful to be able to DO math problems with blocks if a student is not understanding. My son with autism was having a hard time regrouping 100's as 10 10's and 10 as 10 1's last year, he did get it, but having a set would have been much easier. I am ordering now so when we get to those again, hopefully it will be an easier learning curve.

I bought these for my 6 year old to help her grasp the concept of adding and subtracting things. We have been using beads, crayons, etc., but I think these will show her how 10 ones equal 1 set of 10, etc.

Does this come in a plastic bin? It looks similar to NEOROD 121 PCS Base Ten Blocks which comes in a clear plastic bin 10" by 7" by 5" with a green lid. Thank you.

BEST ANSWER: Mine arrived in a cardboard box. Each type of blocks was in a ziptop bag.
Are these made of plastic foam?
A shopper on Mar 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: These are regular hard plastic, not foam. There is no flexibility, but they do click together a little as you stack them.
It shows a mat in the pic, but doesn't list it in the product description. Does it come with the place value mat that is in the pic?
A shopper on May 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, it did not include a mat. You can easily make one though. I used item # 036564 , the base ten value frame with it and this was very useful. I also ordered items 047394 and 047414 (Early Math set 2 and 4 place value I and II ) with it. But you can use it along with your own materials. I thought teaching place value helped a lot. My 7 year old learned very quickly. I highly recommend this product. It was just what I was looking for.

Great Base Ten Set
This is such a great set! We use them for homeschool math. The fact that they interlock makes them even more fun for my son. They seem sturdy and I love that they are different colors. I think that really helps point out the different values. These have been a big hit with us so far and I hope to use them for years to come with both of my kids.

Great learning blocks
Love these learning blocks. My kids love these blocks and after their lessons, they like to build with them for fun too like legos! They only wished the thousands block had grooves for the other blocks to attach.

Good quality but only 10 tens.
These blocks are good quality and doing everything I expected. My only issue is that there are only 10 of the ten rods. There are plenty of one blocks which is great. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but if I'm showing my kids 83 + 49 for example, I want to make 83 with 8 ten rods and 49 with 4 ten rods and then I probably need another ten rod for when I'm adding the units together before I add the tens. Then I would put the 10 ten rods together and trade it in for a hundred, so I need more than 10 ten rods, just the same as I need more than 10 unit cubes. Does that make sense? I'm probably going to buy a second set to make it work. They are definitely helping get my kiddos get their math concepts better.
