This is without a doubt the best writing program out there! I could not be happier with it I have been homeschooling for 6 years and have struggled to find a writing program that worked for my son with no success until IEW You definitely need all the components of this program but the price is great considering that once you make that initial purchase you can effectively teach writing to all your children-no matter what grade The only teacher preparation needed is to watch the videos My son and I just pick up everyday where we left off the day before He used to hate writing before IEW but now I have actually heard the words "writing is kind of fun" from his lips! This is one curriculum you won't be disappointed with!

This is hands down the best writing program I've used The instruction on the DVDs is very clear and easy to implement What I like best about it is that writing doesn't have to be a separate subject and the techniques can be applied across the curriculum Also I've been able to use this method with all of my children from 1st grade on There is no upper age limit and I've learned how to become a better writer also! The price seemed high at first but since this program can be used from elementary through high school you'll get your money's worth I didn't feel pressured to "finish" the program in a certain time period and we enjoyed taking our time and really learning and following the methods Once the program is followed through you can repeat everything and just use more difficult writing sources I noticed a HUGE improvement in all of my childrens' writing almost immediately We've tried other writing programs with minimal success and some boredom My children actually looked forward to writing once they were given the simple tools provided by the program to make their writing come alive Try it! You won't be disappointed

We have been using the Institute for Excellence in Writing material for 3 years now and I can say this is the best writing instruction I have ever seen! Teaching students to write is a learned skill and the TWSS seminar although it initially seems daunting since it is a teacher seminar "I" have to watch actually is very freeing Andrew teaches the writing process in specific steps - covering an exact structure for essays and style techniques that the kids can easily relate to and use The end result is that writing is made "do-able" even for boys and reluctant writers - it's so much better than the "writing starters" approach you see in so many writing programs Once you as the teacher go through these concepts with your children you will be able to continue to use them year after year I was advised by the staff at IEW to watch the instruction for a module then teach it to the kids and do the writing practice with them then watch the next module's training session and so on This spreads watching this teacher training out over the school year We also found it helpful to use the Student Writing Intensive Seminar In this Andrew teaches the kids directly Then I worked with them on additional writing assignments
