Is it best to have to book too?
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is. In fact, the DVD is designed as a supplement to the book and the student is expected to be completing workbook exercises along with the DVD instruction.

My 3rd grader is struggling in Book D. He started out with ball and stick but switched to GD in 2nd grade using Book C. He now abhors handwriting. Could the DVD provide clear instruction as well as make it more fun?
BEST ANSWER: No, sorry. The DVD is lower "resolution", like how VHS tapes used to look. It does explain the specifics of each letter and stroke, but it is not very engaging. I would encourage you to keep with GD. Perhaps lower the quantity while keeping the quality expectations high.
