Description

An illustrated book parody of Where the Wild Things Are, although this “winner of the Cheap Gold Sticker Award" is not nearly like it's original. When young Mog gets sent to bed early for being too friendly to their food, a cat, wild things start to happen. First, his bed turns into a car; and then he drives into an old, boring town. In this town, he meets four residents of Dullsville (who are actually caricatures of famous and political people). Mog had fun at first, but ended up getting so bored that he exploded with a tantrum and raced home. His parents are proud of the young monster that their son is becoming. A humorous and interesting read. Although this is an illustrated storybook, it is not really intended for children. Children may enjoy the pictures, but would likely not understand the humor and hidden meanings in the story line. 30 pgs, hc.

Publisher's Description of Where the Mild Things Are
Mog is an uncharacteristically mild monster. He's not scary, he likes kittens, and he's quite...boring. When his parents get angry with him for being so mild, his bed transforms into an AMC Gremlin, and Mog takes off in search of adventure. He arrives in Dullsville, where he meets the dullest people imaginableVice President Gore, Martha Stewart, Bill Gates, and Jay Leno among them. Eventually he is consumed by boredom, and Mog heads back to his monster parents, never to be mild again! Timed to publish just weeks before the muchanticipated Where the Wild Things Are movie, this parody of a childhood classic is sure to be a hit with both fans and detractors of the original.
