The Explorer Globe looks like a globe I had when I was in school years ago. Looks like a traditional, well built, sturdy, appropriately colored, and up-to-date globe for my 8 year old grandson. No plastic!!

As we study about explorers, our flat 2-D map just isn't enough to visualize thsir journeys. I like the metal base and my kids wanted blue oceans instead of my preferred antique ones.

Our old globe broke and had to be tossed. We will be doing geography next year and a globe is almost a must! I really like that the stand is metal, not plastic, and that there is raised topography so the kids can feel the location of the mountain ranges.

Hi. My globe came with a card explaining the Replogle Updatable Globe Program. It asks for the model number to be filled in on the card. Have you found the model number?

How recently was this globe made? I know things will go out-of-date quickly, so want to find one as recent as I can.

BEST ANSWER: I can't answer when it was made, but the one I bought a year ago is current as far as I can tell, with the countries and boundaries I would expect for our time. We've made good use of the globe, and it seems well made.
It's hard to tell from the description. Presumably the circular base and the C-arc holding the globe are both metal, but is the approximately 1" tall riser between the base and C-arc also made of metal, or is it made of plastic? On the Replogle Globemaster I currently have, this riser is plastic and it has broken beyond repair. I don't want another one with a plastic riser like the broken one I already have.

Very impressed!
I have been looking for a good quality globe for a while now. This globe is it! It was well worth the money spent for such a quality item. Right upon opening the box I was impressed. It is sturdy and nice looking. If you are looking for a globe don't hesitate to buy this one.

worth the money
Don't bother with cheap globes. They always come off the pedastal. This is the best globe I have found and is very durable and does not feel cheap.

We purchased this globe and have been very pleased with it! It is of good quality and easy to read the countries The bracket holding the globe is metal so it will last longer than the plastic ones we have purchased in the past from stores! Excellent item!
