WE enjoyed the Monet book It was a fun and informative book about the life and work of Monet It was easy to read and the pages did not have a lot of detail on them so that a young reader could understand and read it by themself and enjoy it! The book features a mixture of Monet's work and cute cartoonish illustrations that were appealing to my family The book featured some of his lesser known works found in galleries all over the world

Do you want an Art History/Appreciation course that's more than just boring facts? Well this is it! Each book includes facts about the life of the featured artist as well as full color reprints of some of his/her most famous works One of the things that make these books particularly engaging are the cartoons spread throughout the book to help illustrate the artist's life For instance in the book about Monet the author has a picture of Claude Monet drawing pictures in his father's grocery store I think these cartoons help to really engage the children as well as give them something to easily remember Another cartoon is of Monet in his classroom with a chalk drawing of his teacher on the board The teacher is looking down at Monet not happy The bubbles read "Mr Monet do you have anything to say about this ridiculous drawing you have made of me?!?" Monet answers "Yes I probably should have made the nose bigger" The author goes on to point out that Monet did many caricatures of people and eventually was paid for them Each of the books includes many many lovely reprints of the artist's work They are a nice size too not too large not too small easy to study and perhaps even try to reproduce Another interesting feature of the book series is that the author will often include a few pictures from other artists to compare to the feature artist's work All of my children youngest to oldest have thoroughly loved these books There's no teacher prep just open the book and read! The children don't grow tired of reading and just looking at them either! I recommend getting the whole series The price is wonderful making collecting them easily affordable This series is most definitely a hit!
