Category Description for Saxon K-3 Program:

The Teacher's Manual contains the actual lesson plans and information vital to the effective presentation of math concepts. The consumable Meeting Books are used during the teacher-student "meeting" in which concepts are introduced, demonstrated and practiced. If teaching more than one student at the same level, you will only need one meeting book. Consumable Student Workbooks are used in grades 1-3 only and contain student materials, flash cards and practice pages. The Math K Home Study Kit contains teacher edition and meeting book. Math 1, 2, and 3 kits contain teacher edition, meeting book, and a set of 2 workbooks. Manipulatives are a vital, integral part of the program; these are not included in the Home Study Kits, but are available through us also.

Category Description for Saxon Math:

Students like Saxon because they feel successful in math instead of overwhelmed.

The most popular homeschooling math program hands down! Highly recommended by both Mary Pride and Cathy Duffy, Saxon Math also wins our award for the "Most Requested Text." Saxon math is a "user-friendly" math program - even for Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus and other usually difficult math topics. Learning is incremental and each new concept is continuously reviewed, so the learning has time to "sink in" instead of being forgotten when the next topic is presented. Higher scores on standardized tests and increased enrollments in upper-level math and science classes have resulted where Saxon has been used in public schools. Students like Saxon because they feel successful in math instead of overwhelmed. Because of the format, children are able to work more independently.

My 5 yo. daughter loves these so much. She started using them to create little robots and whatever else her imagination comes up with. So I decided to get another set exclusively for school so I don't have to hunt down all the pieces lol

To use with a concrete-pictorial-abstract approach to teaching math.

It will help my children understand some abstract math concepts by introducing tactile methods of learning. Counting in base 10, addition, subtraction, fractions, even multiplication and division and percents.

It seems like it will suit my kids learning style best.. But we'll see.

I ordered the multi link blocks because it was one of the few things I needed for Saxon Math K. I am thankful that the components are sold separate.

As expected
The brightly-colored blocks snap together securely and are useful for many levels of teaching: sorting by color, counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and percents.

I ordered these cubes for my 6 year old daughter to use with Saxon Math and they are too difficult for her to use They are too large and don't snap together easily She can push a couple together by pushing them against the table but after 2 or 3 of them the tower is too big and she cannot push anymore without it slipping These need to be much smaller to work well with small hands

My sons are 3 and 5 They love these manipulatives They not only sort them count them and add them they also create with them! They can literaly spend hours playing with these cubes My older son is a visual and kinesthetic learner so I find these especially great for him to use during numbers/math time

I ordered these for my 45 year old son to use with the Saxon Math curriculum and they are very difficult for him to snap together I encourage him to try then I help his fingers snap the pieces together He continues to try but it is frustrating for him I'm hoping that with use they will become easier to work with On a positive note the price is competitive and it's neat how they snap on all sides not just the top and bottom This allows for more uses and creativity
