The Teacher's Manual contains the actual lesson plans and information vital to the effective presentation of math concepts. The consumable Meeting Books are used during the teacher-student "meeting" in which concepts are introduced, demonstrated and practiced. If teaching more than one student at the same level, you will only need one meeting book. Consumable Student Workbooks are used in grades 1-3 only and contain student materials, flash cards and practice pages. The Math K Home Study Kit contains teacher edition and meeting book. Math 1, 2, and 3 kits contain teacher edition, meeting book, and a set of 2 workbooks. Manipulatives are a vital, integral part of the program; these are not included in the Home Study Kits, but are available through us also.

Category Description for Saxon Math:

Students like Saxon because they feel successful in math instead of overwhelmed.

The most popular homeschooling math program hands down! Highly recommended by both Mary Pride and Cathy Duffy, Saxon Math also wins our award for the "Most Requested Text." Saxon math is a "user-friendly" math program - even for Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus and other usually difficult math topics. Learning is incremental and each new concept is continuously reviewed, so the learning has time to "sink in" instead of being forgotten when the next topic is presented. Higher scores on standardized tests and increased enrollments in upper-level math and science classes have resulted where Saxon has been used in public schools. Students like Saxon because they feel successful in math instead of overwhelmed. Because of the format, children are able to work more independently.

I have used Saxon Math for many years. The Meeting Book is a great way to teach about the calendar, graphing, weather and so much more!

I used Saxon with all of my children. I LOVE this curriculum, very hands-on and engaging. Gives a SOLID foundation in math! Also, very easy to teach - everything is laid out for you. Once you have the workbooks, meeting book, and manipulatives you just pick it up and go. No extra planning needed.

We greatly enjoyed Saxon Math K with our oldest daughter and we are now looking forward to beginning Saxon Math K with our 4 year old! This is a fantastic program for a student who is just beginning math instruction and a parent who needs guidance in best practices for teaching math. This sets a fantastic foundation for the more rigorous Saxon Math 1 program.

I think Saxon math is the best math program

Because I was able to find the Teacher Book for free and I want to use it with my preschooler. I have been told by veteran homeschoolers that Saxon is a year behind so I want to start with level K. I like that the curriculum has a script to use for teaching my children.

Saxon is the best. My dad was a math teacher and used Saxon books to teach me math throughout my junior-high & high school years. I thought I'd try their Kindergarten book for my daughter and see if it lives up to their reputation...

My preschool son seems ready for something more structured, and the layout of three lessons per week will likely be a great fit for him. Hopefully if will be the perfect transition into daily lessons next year in Math 1.

Love Saxon K and using this for the next child
Courtney H on Jul 30, 2018
This Saxon Math is VERY repetitive. It goes OVER and OVER and OVER the same ideas. This bored my daughter but my son needs that repetition. He thrives on this curriculum and all the repetition of addition and subtraction has really concreted addition in my daughter's head, which has helped her SOAR through multiplication and division. It may not be exciting, but it is great preparation for future math. (My daugher has since moved on to Singapore "Math in Focus" and has done great!)
Janel B on Jul 26, 2018
Love, love, love Saxon Math. I have used it with my first four kiddos. Now, it is time to use it with my last kiddo. It is the most thorough math program we have used. I have wandered, but always come back to Saxon. It is a very solid program.
Kimberly W on Jul 24, 2018
We'll be starting Math K with our second son (almost 5). Went through this with our first who is nearing 7 yrs. It does seem repetitive to us adults but the reinforcement was valuable, especially for our son. I know our second son will need it as well. Simply made and could probably get by with a calendar instead, but I liked the durability of the cover and the color coordination.

Blank calendar meeting book, but very useful!
I got this to use with my twins kindergarten Saxon. I do like using this even though it is just a calendar I think it helps them “own” it to fill it in as we learn about time and seasons.

Well worth doing! Simple and engaging.
My four year old is loving this 3x a week, manipulatives-based curriculum. He is making substantial progress on understanding calendars, dates, days of the week and ordinal position also. It is well worth the minimal cost outlay and the 20ish minutes we spend on it each lesson.

Superior Curriculum
Saxon Math is definitely a superior curriculum, however, I also recommend getting the Teacher's edition to accompany the Kindergarten and 1st grade student meeting books.

Just what I was looking for
I searched for this and found it on several different websites, but Rainbow resource had the lowest price! Once I ordered it, it shipped out right away and I had it within the week so I could get started teaching my Kindergartener. So happy with the product and the company service. Thank you!

I should have read more reviews!
I was looking for Math for my Kindergartner because we started the year with simple worksheets. I should have purchased the first grade book b/c this K book is really just a good resource of a calendar and the days of the week.

I am horrified that Saxon Math is touting this book as one providing math concepts It's a glorified calendar with shapes In fact I've seen better calendars I am very familiar with math books for children in this age range and am shocked at the poor quality of this math book

Consultant's Note: This Meeting Book is part of the Saxon Math K program and is not intended to be used independent of the Teacher's Manual which does present concepts and instruction Its purpose is to provide space for students to write responses and observations

I love the Saxon Math program and have used it for the last several years however this is the first time I have purchased it for Kindergarten I was highly disappointed when I recieved the Meeting book for K It is not worth the paper printed on I could have just used the wooden calendar I already own for the same purpose I love Saxon but I think they are highly off the mark on this one
