Category Description for Daily Grams:

What's the difference between Easy Grammar and Daily Grams? Covering grammatical concepts with engaging simplicity, these two programs are companions and complementary but serve different purposes. While Easy Grammar provides a systematic presentation of concepts, Daily Grams provides - you guessed it - daily practice. They are each stand-alone programs, and Daily Grams can easily be used with other grammar programs or independently. Using them at the same time would be a bit of overkill; as you would be adding further practice to an already very complete course. However, in periods where the student is doing quite a bit of writing or if you want to follow a year of intensive grammar with a lighter year, Daily Grams are a good way to keep grammar skills sharp without bogging students down with too much English.

Each "Teacher Text" contains 180 reviews covering capitalization, punctuation, parts of speech (general review) and sentence combining. [May I just mention that daily sentence combining practice is one of the most compelling reasons to use this program. This practice develops strong compound and complex sentence construction skills, which is one of the most necessary components for effective and elegant written communication.] Each Daily Grams review page only takes about 10 minutes a day, but what a valuable ten minutes - keeping grammar skills sharp and developing sentence writing competence. The books are reproducible and contain student pages and answers (in the back) while the student workbooks contain only the student pages (no answers) and are not reproducible. If you are planning on using a level with more than one student, the workbooks offer you a time-saving option at a reasonable cost.

These materials are also comprehensive in scope but are supplemental as opposed to more complete programs.

Used this series for the past 3 years. Love the daily review of capitalization, punctuation, parts of speech, and sentence combining. It sharpens my kids' skills and only takes a few minutes each day. It's like a math drill but for grammar. Genius!

It came recommended to me by a homeschool mom with a masters in teaching. I am already using Easy Grammar at her recommendation, and we love it. Two of my kids are doing great on Easy Grammar alone, while two need extra practice. That is where Daily Grams comes in.

My kids enjoy working on these quick daily refreshers. We do learn or re-learn key grammatical terms/concepts as we progress through the year. Last year (and planning on this year) the kids work on these individually and then together we work on IEW Fix-It Grammar... which is also short, but good for us to do together.

I wanted to give just a 'refresher' of grammar daily for my dd before she tackles her writing for the day. I figure daily practice with it would be like doing a quick math problem or two that would help her focus before jumping into the subject at hand. Much like she will practice scales before jumping into songs with her violin, practicing simple parts of grammar will help her get into a writing mindset.

BEST ANSWER: I have Daily Grams Grade 5 with a 2002 copyright date, and it does indeed have all the answers in the back.
Do you need to use Easy Grammar AND Daily Grams?

Easy Grammar Grade 5 Teacher Edition
Easy Grammar Grade 5 Teacher Edition
BEST ANSWER: No, you do not NEED, both, but they are designed to complement each other. The Daily Grams are ongoing review of principles the student has learned. Easy Grammar teaches new material, and review some, in a topic-based format. There is a group of lessons on verbs, then nouns, then clauses, for example. If you want ongoing review of capitalization rules, subject-verb agreement, etc., you will want the Daily Grams.
How is this different from Daily Grams grade 5 student workbook that is about $10?
User on Oct 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The workbook doesn't come with answers and is not reproducible. I have multiple kids that are or will be using the book, so I get the more expensive one that comes with answer pages and that is reproducible and put each page in a plastic sleeve in a three ring binder. The kids can use a dry erase marker, then check their work and erase it. Makes it easy to reuse.
My daughter is finishing Easy Grammar Grades 3 and 4 this spring. Would she need Daily Grams 4 or 5 for next year? She will be in 5th Grade.
User on May 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If she's going to be finishing up easy grammar 4 this year, I would get daily grams 5. Easy grammar and daily grams are complementary so there should be no need to "redo" what she's already learned. Daily gram 5 will build on what she learned in easy grammar 4.
My daughter is finishing Easy Grammar Grades 3 and 4 this spring. Would she need Daily Grams 4 or 5 for next year? She will be in 5th Grade.
A shopper on May 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: After My son finished Easy Grammar 3 and 4 last year we decided to change and do Grade 5 Daily Grams this year. It worked great for us as there is so much repetition. We liked that he was practicing all the concepts every day. Next year we will do Easy Grammar 6 and then the following year Daily Grams Grade 7. Every Other year seems to work for my kids so they get the new concepts followed by some repetition. Only once or twice did my 7th grader have to look something up on the internet to do his Daily Grams. This has worked for both of my children. Hope this helps.
Is this the teacher text?
A shopper on Mar 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It is a teacher text only in that answers are given in the back of the book. There are no lesson plans given. It is meant to be used independently by the student to keep them sharp on rules of grammar, punctuation and sentence formation.

Very little, if any, instruction in these workbooks. Great for review, but found my kids were not ready for this grade level. First year homeschooling after public school...

My son is in 5th grade and completed analytical grammar junior last year. (which he enjoyed). I chose Daily Grams as a daily maintenance program this year and he has mentioned several times that he enjoys the daily practice.
