Product Description:

To use this book from The Thinking Tree, you will choose 4 books and 2 documentaries about each scientific subject. Students will also build something in their Minecraft world based on these subjects and use gel pens/colored pencils to complete the activities in the book. Topics include: botany, chemistry, geology, meteorology, physics, technology and zoology. The book provides a framework for the content the student chooses to use. They will be asked to draw a scene from a documentary, write a review, write a paragraph on what you learned, draw a diagram or illustration, create a comic strip, find 4 words with more than 10 letters and write the definitions, doodle while listening to an audio book, and more. The pages mostly repeat in the 7 different science topics. Nearly all content comes from outside sources. The Minecraft theme is scattered throughout. Uses the dyslexie font in places. 280 pgs, pb. ~Sara

Category Description for Thinking Tree Journals:

This series of workbooks from Thinking Tree combines nature study and state studies with a focus on the various state birds, flowers, and trees. Each book features two pages per state plus vocabulary pages. While the first page is primarily a nature study (i.e. botanical name, describe habitat, etc.), the second page is more general. These pages include state-specific questions (ratification dates, capital cities) and a creative writing assignment (poem, short story, or unique state tidbit).

Chose for son to do on his own - he enjoys minecraft and wants to learn more about the different science topics.

With 5 kids (all boys) I needed my home school science curriculum to be engaging and self directed. I like the independence this book affords which helps when you have students working on different levels.

We do a library book and video based science curriculum mostly, and right now my son takes notes in a boring notebook. I think he'll love this fun and organized way to direct his note-taking and learning!

Does this resource include titles of books for us to check out of the library. And lists of possible videos?
Dina on Jul 6, 2020

Look in your science books for . . . . . .

Watch a video or read a book about this occupation.
