It's a convenient way to study geography. It's essentially a cheap way to buy a laminated map. We use it during snack time for a fun way to learn.

We are studying Africa. Seems like a good way to reflect on current topics while sharing mealtimes.

Time to replace our worn out one. It lasted 8 years.

I have used passive learning via placemats for my twins for years...alphabet, multiplication facts, planets, U.S. map, and presidents. It is incredible how much they learn without realizing that they are learning because of simple, repetitive exposure. Now, as 7th graders, they must learn the African map for school and I am thrilled to see it offered on Rainbow Resource Center's website. Thanks!!

Is South Sudan on the placemat? The image indicates only Sudan, but I'm wondering if the product itself has been updated. If I were to order this, would I receive a placemat containing South Sudan?
A shopper on Dec 30, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the placemats that we are currently stocking in the warehouse DO include South Sudan. We, evidently, have an outdated graphic. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

the neglected continent
kids love looking at these while eating. and they spark lots of questions and conversation. probably plain placemats better for learning to eat mindfully and with focus, but I like them.

I love these educational placemats and so do my grandchildren! Be warned however that as of May 8 2013 the Africa placemat is still out of date We're going to have to use a permanent marker to separate Sudan from South Sudan
