Product Description:

Oh, the feel of a nice, thick (1 cm.) wooden pattern block! Don't tell your children that these aren't just toys! The bright, enticing primary colors seem to draw even the smallest of our children into play. Proportioned shapes allow for the construction of infinite designs. Even before they begin to use them for "work" on symmetry, congruence, similarity, measurement, fractional relationships, counting, sorting, and geometry, they are discovering the unique relationships between the blocks and getting plenty of experience in patterning and spatial problem-solving. We've had hours of enjoyment with our set and, with 250 blocks to the bucket, there's enough for several children to construct or work simultaneously.

Publisher Description:

This durable set of wooden pattern blocks provides a lifetime of use. Perfect for counting, sorting, linear measurement and matching. Each set contains 250 pieces.

Category Description for Pattern Blocks:

Sets include green triangle, orange square, red trapezoid, tan rhombus, and yellow hexagon. Sets come in either plastic or wood, and vary in thickness and quantity.

CHOKING HAZARD (1). Not <3 yrs.

Category Description for Saxon K-3 Program:

The Teacher's Manual contains the actual lesson plans and information vital to the effective presentation of math concepts. The consumable Meeting Books are used during the teacher-student "meeting" in which concepts are introduced, demonstrated and practiced. If teaching more than one student at the same level, you will only need one meeting book. Consumable Student Workbooks are used in grades 1-3 only and contain student materials, flash cards and practice pages. The Math K Home Study Kit contains teacher edition and meeting book. Math 1, 2, and 3 kits contain teacher edition, meeting book, and a set of 2 workbooks. Manipulatives are a vital, integral part of the program; these are not included in the Home Study Kits, but are available through us also.

Category Description for Saxon Math:

Students like Saxon because they feel successful in math instead of overwhelmed.

The most popular homeschooling math program hands down! Highly recommended by both Mary Pride and Cathy Duffy, Saxon Math also wins our award for the "Most Requested Text." Saxon math is a "user-friendly" math program - even for Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus and other usually difficult math topics. Learning is incremental and each new concept is continuously reviewed, so the learning has time to "sink in" instead of being forgotten when the next topic is presented. Higher scores on standardized tests and increased enrollments in upper-level math and science classes have resulted where Saxon has been used in public schools. Students like Saxon because they feel successful in math instead of overwhelmed. Because of the format, children are able to work more independently.

High quality item that will handle three kids learning at home. Also an open ended "toy" which I am all about. This item meets my criteria for "toys" that are allowed in my home. I'm quite particular. These look fun to play with for an adult too!

I’m home schooling and this was suggested to me by a teacher as a great learning tool. I haven’t used it yet but we’ll see.

We've got a small cheap set that came with a set of math manipulatives, and my kids love them, so I figured I may as well get a slightly better quality set that has its own storage!

I first bought pattern blocks for my children 27 years ago and they loved them. They never had a problem with geometry when the subject was introduced. My daughter is now requesting pattern blocks for her 3 and 1 year old children. This tradition is being passed down.

My daughter loves creating things and this is something she can play with for hours on end for many years.

Excellent activity for my 1 1/2 year old daughter and my 5 year old son. Our friends like to use them when they visit and the cousins are getting sets for Christmas.

I purchased these for my Kindergartner's Math Curriculum. The foam magnetic ones were tempting, but I'd had some of those (many years ago, not from this company) that fell apart so I opted for the wooden ones which will feel nicer anyway.

Is this good for 3 year olds?
Grandma4 on Mar 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The green triangle pieces are a bit small. They could easily be put into a little mouth. I'd consider them a choking hazard for a 3 year old. I have a 3 year old and without close supervision, he'd spread these across the floor before he'd actually sit and build something with them. If you have a girl, or if these are only brought out when you're planning on working WITH the 3 year old, they might work out and be fun. I hope this helps! They are a really nice learning tool to have on hand. They are nicely made and there are plenty of them in the tub they come in to be able to create lots of things with them! If you get them and your child isn't ready for them, you could always bring them back out again in another 6 months. 😊
Are these blocks hardwood?
User on Jan 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yep! They sure are. They stand up to kids' manipulating, stacking, fiddling with, etc. We love 'em.
Are these blocks compatible with the block trays?

Great purchase, great price!
My kids are loving these. They pull them out all the time. They are made of a nice sturdy wood and are a lovely vibrant color, which is exactly what I was looking for. They’re thicker than the kind I used In school, but still lots of fun! Also, a great price. This was the best price I could find online.

Hours of goodness!
So fun for my preschooler make scenes with, and as he starts making patterns his spatial reasoning is taking off. He's even grasping very early basics of fractions and parts of things. My favorite play-based tool/toy!

These are nice pattern blocks We really prefer how the wood ones feel and these are nice and thick If you plan to have more than 1 set of blocks make sure to buy multiples of the same set at the same time so that they match (4 sets is a good amount to fill our dining room table!)
