Category Description for Art With A Purpose:

Artpacs: appealing, easy to use, and inexpensive. We have used several levels in our school and they do an excellent job teaching coloring, shading techniques, elementary drawing, painting (mixing and technique, basic composition principles, and lettering (calligraphy). Using common supplies like crayons, glue, paints, and scissors and with detailed and clear directions, preparation time is about nil. Our children have really enjoyed these projects. In their new format, teacher instructions are included right in each pac. Each child will need their own Artpac. Pages are not reproducible.

We love these crafts, especially since we don't have the time (or patience) for a more involved and in-depth art curriculum. Nearly all the projects can be completed with materials you already have at home.

Can you use colored pencils instead of crayons with this program?
Diana B on May 15, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I'm sure you could, but I would advise against it in the beginning. One of the reasons I like Artpacs is that the program begins with learning to color. I think this would be easier to learn with crayons instead of colored pencils.

LOVE!
I used this Art With A Purpose as a child, and later did it with my little siblings, and now I am loving using it with my special needs students! This makes for wonderful, fun art classes!

Too Basic
This may be an unpopular review, however both my 5 yr old and I found this a little boring. It was convenient as far as the tear out and go and it would be easy to make copies if you have more than one child. However, it wasn't very inspiring and she'd quickly lose interest. I definitely would not recommend this for grades 1-3, this is more of a preK-K concept. Great for reiterating to the child to color in the whole picture and not leave white, to go over your work and put time and effort into it but we didn't get much out of this one.
