Times Tales DVD is a creative, innovative mnemonic-based program that makes it fun and easy to memorize the upper multiplication facts. Times Tales uses cute,simple stories to provide students with a "memory peg", allowing them to quickly recall otherwise abstract facts.

Multiplication tables can be so difficult to learn. If a child can memorize or use a manipulative to learn their tables, there are plenty of products to help you out, but what about those children who are more visual/auditory? Times Tales DVD makes learning upper tables fun - and in a short amount of time.

Learning is done in two parts. Children are to listen and watch the stories in the first part of the DVD in order to master the facts being presented. After completing the steps in the first part of the DVD, they can then proceed to the second part. The second part of the DVD presents more stories that build on the stories in part 1. Children will learn 3x6, 3x7, 3x8, 3x9, 4x6, 4x7, 4x8, 4x9, 6x6, 6x7, 6x8, 6x9, 7x7, 7x8, 7x9, 8x8, 8x9, 9x9 with the creative mnemonics presented in the illustrations and stories in the DVD. When children recall the story, they will recall the fact. The characters in the stories are represented by number people - 3 is a butterfly, 4 is a chair, 6 is the children of the first grade class, 7 is Mrs. Week, 8 is Mrs. Snowman, and 9 is a tree house. The story then tells about a fact that is illustrated in the picture. For example, "Mrs. Week (7) went butterfly hunting. She captured 20 butterflies in her net and one landed on her head." The illustration is Mrs. Week (7) holding a butterfly net with 20 butterflies (3) in the net and 1 butterfly (3) on her head. The fact to learn is 3 x 7 = 21.

A CD-ROM is also included with the DVD. It includes written tests, flashcards, crossword puzzles, and a fun game all in pdf format.

If you want your child to have a small flip chart for story review, there is a set that includes a 3"x 5" spiral-bound flip chart. The cardstock flip chart includes a picture for each story from the DVD along with the story. The reverse of the page has just the picture, so children can retell the story. There is also a fact review page at the end of part one and part two.

This is a product with no student boundaries - use it for the very young, for remedial work, or for students with learning disadvantages. It is non-consumable, so great for multiple students. Have some fun and work on those harder-to-remember multiplication facts. ~ Donna

I used the original Times Tales book with my daughter years ago, and it was the first thing that got the multiplication facts to actually stick in her mind. Now I have an 8 year old stepson who is struggling with the same concepts.

Does this come with the CD practice pages? The second picture make it appear that way, but it's not listed.

Helpful Memorization Tool!
My third-born was the first of my kids to struggle with memorizing multiplication facts. We spent time with flashcards, facts practice, etc., and it just wasn't happening. Adding this series suddenly changed things! We're still working on speed, but I hear her processing the stories when she sees the facts, rather than trying to count out her facts, and automaticity is improving. I'm so pleased we tried this resource!

Definitely helped struggling learner to retain multiplication facts
Times Tales has made a huge difference in my 10 year old being able to retain her multiplication facts. She really struggled before to master the 6, 7, and 8 times tables. We had tried so many different approaches, but Times Tales was the one that really made it stick. So grateful!

Times Tales
This worked wonderful for my kids. It's kind of lame but it doesn't seem to matter for the material sticking. Used the printable flashcards and drilled for one week then went on to the next level and did the same thing. Only compliant is it's not all the times tables only the upper times. Would like them to make ones for all but this was helpful for us.

worked like a charm
for a child that seemed to really be struggling with traditional style of learning the times tables- this worked great. I was a tad skeptical but at the point of ready to try anything...flash cards had not worked, online games had not worked, math-it game had not worked...all these things had worked perfectly with the older children, but not with this one. In a short time we FINALLY had it! It worked great.

It actually works!
My 9 year old daughter went from tears to bragging! The first day she watched the video she was so proud that she walked around asking us to quiz her! This video save us both a lot of frustration.

Only goes up to 9x9
I would have given this product more stars, since it's wonderful, but I was hoping to at least help my daughter through the 12s. This only goes up to 9x9, which was disappointing. I wish they'd make a supplementary product up to 15x15! I'd buy it next week. After watching the video one time, my daughter was confident to answer all the facts from that video. Great job Times Tales!

Wonderful
I can't say enough good things about Times Tales DVD. My two 5th grade boys have been struggling with their times tables for a couple of years and with this program, they watched the dvds for two weeks and now they have them down! It is so important to have these facts down to go further in math. I was afraid they might think the DVD was too babyish, but they enjoyed and even laughed with them. GREAT PRODUCT!!!

It Works!
This was the answer we needed years ago. My 10 yr old son didn't "love" the DVD, but he does love watching TV. He watched the DVD daily for a week. Then the following week he knew his times tables and for us it was nothing short of a miracle. After completing his very first test, he came running and shouting, "I got them all right! I got a 100%!" It was the first time in years he had JOY when doing Math.
Next we move on to Dianne Craft's Right Brained Learning DVDs.
