Product Description:

Formerly titled Victor Journey Through the Bible, this is a wonderful reference to accompany your own Bible reading or family Bible studies. It covers selected (major) Bible events chronologically, providing helpful historical and cultural information about traditions, clothing, everyday objects, places, and more. For example, the Tower of Babel entry discusses its location, possible excavation sites, what the name "Babel" means in Akkadian, information about ziggurats (the most probable form of construction), and the birth of nations after the flood. Very interesting, informative and colorful, this profusely illustrated volume abounds with photographs and artistic renderings, besides maps, charts, lists, and diagrams. Although the title has changed slightly from "Victor" to "DC Cook," the interior content has not been changed. A welcome addition to your library.

Category Description for Veritas Bible Programs:

If you are looking for a chronological Bible program taught in a comprehensive yet straightforward method, Veritas is an excellent choice. The purpose of this curriculum is to teach children to understand Scripture in a chronological order through a multisensory approach (using picture cards, memory songs, worksheets, and other activities). If you are studying Veritas history, this series would correlate well with it. There are five courses to this program with each teaching a section of the Bible. Each course includes 32 weeks of lessons and is meant to be covered in one year of study. There are four resources included with each course: Bible Cards, Teacher Guide, Audio CD, and an Enhanced CD.

The 32 Bible Cards (5x7 inches) are such a wonderful resource with or without the rest of the curriculum! Most have a colorful picture (except for a few black and white) with a Scripture reference on one side and an explanation with additional reading resources on the other side. For example, on one side of the card, there is a picture with the caption “Famine in Egypt, Genesis 41-47”. The other side gives a brief account of the Scripture and lists other resources with page numbers for additional reading. The cards are also color coded to depict the correct time period, and to let students know this event is also found in Scripture. There are also chronological numbers on some cards to clarify if it relates to a history or Bible event so students can combine the cards. (This is especially helpful if using the history curriculum). You can laminate the cards, punch a hole in the top right corner and keep them on a large ring. The cards can also be used to play games like Go Fish or race to put the cards in chronological order.

The Audio CD is full of memory songs for children to memorize the chronology of Biblical events. They should sing along daily to these songs (especially for the first few weeks until they are memorized).

The Teacher’s Manual includes the worksheets, Bible reading, projects, and tests. Answers to the worksheets, projects, and tests are also in the teacher manual. There are 32 lessons, and a sample schedule for a week is included. It is not necessary to do all the projects; pick and choose what works best for your family. The projects are not intimidating or complicated, but rather fun.

An Enhanced CD-ROM is also available for this course. This includes the memory songs, an electronic version of the teacher’s manual, and a “how to” video providing guidance on how to use the program. This will work on most Windows and Macintosh computers.

We offer two complete kits: one with the Teacher Manual, the card set, and the audio CD (Homeschool Kit); and one with the Enhanced CD and the Cards (Homeschool Kit with CD).

I am hoping this will be a different take on Bible curriculum rather than another devotional-type study.

Victor Journey Through the Bible was an awesome supplement to our homeschool curriculum this year! I loved the brief 2-page daily chapters covering Biblical history A cumulative review prefaces each chapter useful repetition for my boys ages 7 and 10 as well as for us parents! Scripture references are also listed for each section The color photographs illustrations maps drawings and charts are fabulous and we found the chart listing the kings of Judah and Israel very helpful when reading through many Old Testament books of the Bible The decscription on the front cover of the book is really true! Excellent investment!
